Arrived to find loads of kites and goat boats out but no other windsurfers which was surprosing as the webcam was showing 25 mph gusts. Decided to go for a 5.4 but the wind in the car park was nothing like the wind on the water.

Launched and blobbed down wind to get out of the lea of the island and ended up quite far out, not planing with waves breaking at 10 ft - not good. Flare gybed on a swell and headed back then got caught by a monster breaking well over head height. I was pinned under my sail going through the spin cycle for a long time, long enough to start getting worried. This pretty much summed up my journey back to the shore - just enough wind to waterstart then get nailed by the next set.

Ended up with a long walk back up wind, not the best of days. No doubt it'll be windy as hell tomorrow when I'm back at work. The old windsurfing joke springs to mind "What do you call the day after 2 windless days - Monday"
